it was one of those days where you just had to drop everything you were doing and go and chase the sunshine.

so that's exactly what we did.

Tim graduated on Saturday with his Graduate Diploma in Teaching! His family came down to Dunedin for the day to celebrate him and his achievements and after I finished work (I had to work all day and missed the ceremony!), we raced down to the uni to take some quick candid shots of the family and Tim in all his regalia. We were losing light quickly, so please excuse the grain! As a photographer, I think its important to remember that its okay to not always get the "perfect" image, its okay to make mistakes sometimes and that it's necessary not to put too much pressure on ourselves. I know that I'm guilty of stressing over the little technical things that sometimes don't always go my way, but I'm teaching myself that it's okay to look past this sometimes and just appreciate the moments captured and memories that can now be stored forever!

After about 10 minutes of running around the uni trying to get a few nice photos of everybody, we went out for dinner to a wee Mexican restaurant called Alley Cantina that Tim and I discovered earlier that week! It was so delicious, and is definetely on our favourites list now! Mexican is by far one of our favourite types of dishes, and ever since being back from America we have been craving it SO. BAD. Needless to say, we are so happy to have found this wee gem of a restaurant in Dunedin!

P.S. The black and white photo is Tim's little brother Alex, who decided to steal Tim's graduation attire, and his glasses, to take some graduation photos of his own!

a thursday afternoon

a thursday afternoon spontaneous adventure. tim got a job offer today for a dream job!!!! naturally, the only way to celebrate was to jump in the car and just drive! i couldn't be happier or more proud of him- after a couple of months of uncertainty the door that's supposed to open has finally opened and he is moving into the travel industry. our biggest dreams are to travel the world and document everything through photo & video, and we both feel that this is such a perfect step in the right direction.. he deserves this more than anything. i'm literally the proudest girlfriend.

it's been a happy thursday, that's for sure!

endless exploring

one of our all time favourite things to do together is explore. yesterday, we embraced the random summery day dunedin surprised us with and chased sunshine all afternoon! we ended up at 'the end of the world' and just let our eyes take in the endless horizon. the ocean has an amazing power to put everything in perspective, and make you feel so small yet so significant at the same time. i always find being near the water, away from the city and being in a small bubble of isolation to be so thought-provoking..

"you can not discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."

from day to night

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3:22-23

august 3rd. how is it already august?! i know its said by everybody, and i know i probably say it every year - but this year is going so fast. i can't believe we are already in the eighth month. the end of winter is near, and spring is on its way with dunedin teasing us with its glimpses of blue skies every now and then. tim moves back to dunedin today (permanently!) and i couldn't be more excited. my older brother hamish and his beautiful (and heavily pregnant) wife amy also moved back to dunedin this weekend AND i'm in my second week of a new job. this week has been a full one, with so many positives despite the huge workload of study that i have continually been pushing to the side... eek!
august, you're shaping up to be a good one.
